The Center for the Defense of Public Interest (CENDIP for its acronyms in Spanish) is a new civil society organization. It was created late 2007 by IDEA’s founders and associated itself with IDEA with the purpose to execute IDEA’s programs related to access to justice, and to organize juridical clinics on issues related to the defense of public interest across the country.
CENDIP’s objectives are:
1. To defend and promote the strengthening of government institutions and citizen rights, to render the republican ideal of a representative, participative and pluralist democracy effective.
2. To contribute into making the Supreme Court Justice’s established principle that the State is constituted with the purpose and finality to make our human rights effective and operational possible.
3. To promote the accountability of the administration of funds or the public credit, and the general public management of government authorities.
4. To defend and promote the strengthening of people’s right to live in a healthy and ecologically balanced environment and other human rights that are collective in nature.
5. To defend and promote people’s right to access information, participation and justice.
