Ecosystem Marketplace launched a report on the State of Biodiversity Markets: Offset and Compensation Markets Worldwide. The report is a summary of biodiversity offset and compensatory mitigation programs by geographical region, including their drivers, buyers and sellers, and unit of credit. The report’s main objective is to enable market participants to make informed decisions and learn from the experience of others; ultimately allowing fair, stable and transparent conservation markets to develop.
Paraguay’s experience is included in the chapter on Central and South America. The different ways in which biodiversity impacts can be compensated are listed, including the new Payment for Ecosystem Services scheme set by Law 3001 and the Conservation Trust. To access the report click on:
