Graduation Ceremony for the Masters in Environmental Law Program

As a final act for the Masters in Environmental Law Program, which IDEA carried out jointly with the University of Limoges (France) and the Catholic University “Nuestra Señora de la Asunción”, a graduation ceremony was held on Monday, April 19th at the Villa Morra Suites Hotel.
IDEA-Paraguay’s Executive Director, Patricia Abed, opened the ceremony in representation of the Academic Coordination and congratulated the students for having concluded these two years of study. She then invited the Class Salutatorian and elected representative of the class, Miss Guillermina Basaglia, to deliver a brief speech. Miss Basaglia reflected on the Master’s Program excellent academic quality, the ethical values they obtained as a result, and how they have already begun to utilize their newly acquired knowledge in their workplace. Next, the Class Valedictorian, Mrs. Rosa Velázquez de Palacios spoke about how the new alums had a big responsibility to act as good leaders, being citizens of a country in which the poverty and analphabetism indexes are significant.
The event continued with the awarding of the University of Limoges Diplomas as well as presents for the Class Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Last, IDEA’s President, Sheila Abed, spoke to the present students and public, giving a brief summary of the Masters in Environmental Law Program’s background and thanking the students for having invested their time, effort and resources. She reminded them that they should act as leaders and points of reference in the field in which they have specialized, and role models within Paraguay. Immediately following the ceremony, the students and their families and friends enjoyed a celebratory cocktail.
