Corporate Social Responsibility

Is a form of management defined by the ethic and transparent relationship of the company with all of the groups with which it relates itself with, and with the establishment of goals that are compatible with society’s sustainable development; the preservation of environmental and cultural resources for future generations, while respecting diversity and promoting the minimization of social inequities.

IDEA puts Corporate Social Responsibility into practice daily, whether internally or through our activities, since CSR principles are completely compatible with our objectives. Additionally, IDEA carries out CSR capacity building activities in private institutions, in an attempt to diffuse CSR practices in the country.

Following successful experiences developed with the private sector, such as workshops, environmentally friendly productive projects, and specific consultations coming from companies concerned about their environmental adjustment, IDEA decided to create an executing branch that could articulate and carry out projects within the productive sector. This led to the creation of SUSTENTAR, which has as its main objectives:

a) Promoting the rational environmental management of public and private land in Paraguay while contributing to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

b) Promoting and articulating processes to strengthen social, economic, cultural and environmental sustainability of both the national and regional development.

c) Developing, executing and monitoring management plans in areas destined to the conservation of biodiversity and protected by the appropriate legal instruments.

d) Creating and managing conservation and sustainable use projects.

e) Developing biodiversity conservation and management training programs for human resources.

Some of the services provided by SUSTENTAR are:

● Design, implementation and execution of sustainable production projects.

● Development of indicators for socio-environmental responsibility within a company.

● Staff training programs for companies.

● Creation of procedure guidelines on environmental issues.

● Revision of environmental licenses, environmental reports, and management plans.

● Guidelines for a CSR program, including a base-line study.
